Grant opportunities available to help small business in Huron County

With the COVID-19 crisis, the importance of having an online presence to sell goods and services has never been more important. There are a number of COVID-19 relief and recovery grant opportunities available for small business owners and startup entrepreneurs within Huron County.  To find out more about each grant program, please click on the links below:

  • Huron Recovery Grant Programa funding program available to small businesses who may be required to continue to make significant changes while adapting to the realities of COVID-19. In partnership with Community Futures Huron, Huron County Economic Development will be awarding grants of up to $2,500! Applications opened August 10. Application Deadline: August 31, 2020.   • GoCanada United Small Business Relief Fund: relief grants of up to $5000 to help small Canadian businesses with COVID-19 recovery. To apply or to learn more, visit: Applications for the Canada United Small Business Relief Fund will be accepted starting August, 31, 2020. Learn more about the eligibility criteria on the Ontario Chamber of Commerce website. 
  • RE3 Women-Led Business Grant: RE3 is a government funded program that provides non-repayable performance based contributions up to $5,000 to assist Southern Ontario women-led SMEs to rebuild, reopen and revive their businesses. Online application intake opened July 13, 2020 and will remain open pending the availability of funding.
  • Digital Main Street Grant: Provides Digital Transformation training and guidance and provides the opportunity for main street businesses to apply for a grant of up to $2,500.
  • Digital Main Street shopHERE grantShopHERE provides independent small businesses and artists with a quick, easy and no-cost way to get selling online right away. Digital Main Street is collaborating with Google, Shopify, Mastercard and Microsoft to build and optimize online stores for small independent businesses and artists in just a matter of days. Please note: The ShopHERE program is free for participants to sign up and have a Shopify store built. Businesses will be responsible for the monthly Shopify fee after the initial 90-day trial.
